Industry Overview
Aerospace
The aerospace industry is the industry supporting aviation by building aircraft and manufacturing aircraft parts for their maintenance. This includes aircraft and parts used for civil aviation and military aviation, helicopters and space vehicles. Our Cleveland® brand® excels in aerospace manufacturing & maintenance tooling.
Construction
In its most widely used context, construction covers the processes involved in delivering buildings, infrastructure, and industrial facilities, and associated activities. Construction also covers repairs and maintenance work and work to expand, extend and improve the asset. Our Cle-Line® brand carries a large variety of drills, masonry bits, and saw blades specifically for the construction industry.
Food & Beverage
Greenfield Industries has tooling primarily for industry equipment and facility maintenance when machining stainless steel.
The food industry covers a series of industrial activities directed at the production, distribution, processing, conversion, preparation, preservation, transport, certification, and packaging. The system also includes the food marketing industries that link farms to consumers, and which include food and fiber processors, wholesalers, retailers, and food service establishments. The beverage industry contains bottling facilities and differs in the types of bottling lines they operate and the types of products they can run". Drinks may be canned or bottled (plastic or glass), hot-fill or cold-fill, and natural or conventional. Innovations in the drink industry, catalyzed by requests for non-alcoholic drinks, include: drink plants, drink processing, and drink packing.
Heavy Manufacturing
Heavy industry is an industry that involves one or more characteristics such as large and heavy products; large and heavy equipment and facilities (such as heavy earth moving equipment, as well as farming implementation equipment and vehicles, as well as machine and mining); or complex or numerous processes.
Medical
The medical device industry makes an enormous number of products, ranging from surgical gloves to artificial joints to imaging equipment, medical implant devices, and plays a crucial role in developing new medical technologies that can improve the ability to diagnose and treat illness. Our Cleveland® brand provides a large array of tooling for titanium and other hard materials.
MRO (Maintenance & Repair Operations)
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)
MRO & OEM involves functional checks, servicing, repairing, or replacing of necessary devices, equipment, machinery, building infrastructure, and supporting utilities in industrial, business, governmental, and residential installations. Our Cle-Line® brand carries a large variety of tools for HVAC, power & utility facilities, general facility (plant & building) maintenance. Over time, this has come to include multiple wordings that describe various cost-effective practices to keep equipment operational; these activities occur either before or after a failure.
Oil / Gas / Chemical
An oil refinery or petroleum refinery is an industrial process plant where crude oil is transformed and refined into more useful products such as petroleum naphtha, gasoline, diesel fuel, asphalt base, heating oil, kerosene, liquefied petroleum gas, jet fuel, and fuel oils. Crude oil is separated in a refinery into components that can be used as fuels, lubricants, and feedstocks in petrochemical processes that manufacture such products as plastics, detergents, solvents, elastomers, and fibers such as nylon and polyesters.
Petrochemicals are the chemical products obtained from petroleum by refining. Some chemical compounds made from petroleum are also obtained from other fossil fuels, such as coal or natural gas, or renewable sources such as maize, palm fruit, or sugar cane. The two most common petrochemical classes are olefins (including ethylene and propylene) and aromatics (including benzene, toluene, and xylene isomers).
Utility, Truck, & Automotive
Manufactures for automotive, utility & manufacture of transportation vehicles include any support vehicle such as automobiles, dry freight and refrigerated freight vans, flatbed trailers, and curtain-sided trailers, emergency vehicles, and school buses.
Welding & Fabrication
Welding is a fabrication process that joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, by using high heat to melt the parts together and allowing them to cool, causing fusion. Welding is distinct from lower temperature metal-joining techniques such as brazing and soldering, which do not melt the base metal. Metal fabrication is the creation of metal structures by cutting, bending, and assembling processes. It is a value-added process involving the creation of machines, parts, and structures from various raw materials.
